지난 3월 21일 저녁 런던 그로브너 하우스 호텔에서 제34회 로렌스 올리비에 어워즈가 열렸다.
로렌스 올리비에 어워즈는 영국연극협회가 주최하는 영국최고 권위의 연극, 뮤지컬 상으로  1976년 웨스트엔드 연극상협회로 시작하여 1984년 로렌스 올리비에 어워즈로 명칭을 바꿨다.

이번 시상식에서는 <헬로우 돌리>와 <스프링 어웨이크닝>이 예상을 깨고 다관왕의 영예를 차지했다. 지난해 오픈 에어 시어터에서 단기로 공연된 <헬로우 돌리>는 베스트 뮤지컬 리바이벌상, 여우주연상, 안무상의 3관왕에 올랐다.

브로드웨이 흥행을 웨스트엔드에서 이어가지 못했던 <스프링 어웨이크닝>은 사운드디자인상, 남우조연상, 남우주연상, 베스트 뉴뮤지컬상의 4관왕을 차지하며 흥행참패의 설움을 씻어냈다.

<헬로우 돌리>의 여주인공 사만다 스피로가 뮤지컬부문 여우주연상을 받았으며, <스프링 어웨이크닝>의 어나이런 바너드가 남우주연상을, 같은 작품에 출연한 배우 이완 리온이 남우조연상을 수상했다.

연극 부문에서는 돈마 웨어 하우스에서 공연된 <욕망이라는 이름의 전차>의 여주인공 레이첼 와이즈와 여우조연 루스 윌슨이 각기 여우주조연상을 차지했다.
연극 부문 남우주연상은 <예루살렘>의 마크 릴랜스가 남우조연상은 <레드>의 빨간머리 주근깨 소년 에디 레드메인이 수상했다.

신작희곡상은 카토리 홀의 <더 마운틴톱>이 수상의 영예를 안았으며, <엔론>의 루퍼트 굴드가 연출상을 수상했다.

관객들이 뽑은 가장 인기있는 작품상은 <위키드>가 받았다.
